Failed Morality

 

If you love rape, killing babies, owning slaves, human sacrifice, opressing women, eating children, genocide and forced abortion, then Yahweh is the god for you! He is an absolute moral monster. If you believe in the trinity, then all the atrocities committed by Yahweh were also committed by Jesus. Below are some of the horrific laws and commands of the bible god.  It is more than sufficient evidence to convict this imagined god of being perfectly evil.

 

Fail! The bible condones chattel slavery

Lev 25:44 As for the male and female slaves whom you may have, it is from the nations around you that you may acquire male and female slaves. 45 You may also acquire them from among the aliens residing with you and from their families who are with you who have been born in your land; they may be your property. 46 You may keep them as a possession for your children after you, for them to inherit as property. These you may treat as slaves, but as for your fellow Israelites, no one shall rule over the other with harshness.

Ex 21:2  When you buy a male Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, but in the seventh he shall go out a free person, without debt. 3 If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. 4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out alone. 5 But if the slave declares, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out a free person,’ 6 then his master shall bring him before God. He shall be brought to the door or the doorpost, and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl, and he shall serve him for life.

Ex 21:20 When a slaveowner strikes a male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies immediately, the owner shall be punished. 21 But if the slave survives a day or two, there is no punishment, for the slave is the owner’s property.

Deut 20:10 When you draw near to a town to fight against it, offer it terms of peace. 11 If it accepts your terms of peace and surrenders to you, then all the people in it shall serve you at forced labor. 12 But if it does not accept your terms of peace and makes war against you, then you shall besiege it, 13 and when the Lord your God gives it into your hand, you shall put all its males to the sword. 14 You may, however, take as your plunder the women, the children, livestock, and everything else in the town, all its spoil. You may enjoy the spoil of your enemies, which the Lord your God has given you. 15 Thus you shall treat all the towns that are very far from you, which are not towns of these nations here. 16 But as for the towns of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not let anything that breathes remain alive.

Eph 6:5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and trembling, in singleness of heart, as you obey Christ, 6 not with a slavery performed merely for looks, to please people, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the soul. 7 Render service with enthusiasm, as for the Lord and not for humans, 8 knowing that whatever good we do, we will receive the same again from the Lord, whether we are enslaved or free.

1Peter 2:18 Slaves, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only those who are good and gentle but also those who are dishonest. 19 For it is a commendable thing if, being aware of God, a person endures pain while suffering unjustly.

It's crystal clear this god is perfectly fine with his people practicing chattel slavery just so long as it's not against Hebrew men. Hebrew women can be bought and sold. You can even beat slaves just so long as you don't kill them on purpose. In times of war, Yahweh/Jesus commands his people to take all the enemy people as slaves if they surrender. If they don't surrender, kill them all! Yahweh fully condones slavery and genocide. There is no place in the New Testament where slavery is condemned or prohibited. In fact, the NT clearly supports the practice of slavery.

 

Fail! Yahweh commands child sex trafficking

Num 31:14 Moses became angry with the officers of the army, the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds, who had come from service in the war. 15 Moses said to them, “Have you allowed all the women to live? 16 These women here, on Balaam’s advice, made the Israelites act treacherously against the Lord in the affair of Peor, so that the plague came among the congregation of the Lord. 17 Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man by sleeping with him. 18 But all the young girls who have not known a man by sleeping with him, keep alive for yourselves.

Yahweh/Jesus is twice a monster here. He commands his Hebrews to commit mass murder and then take child sex slaves. Truly an evil god.

 

Fail! Yahweh demands human sacrifice

Ex 13:2 “Consecrate to me all the firstborn; whatever is the first to open the womb among the Israelites, of human beings and animals, is mine.”

Lev 27:28 “Nothing that a person owns that has been devoted to destruction for the Lord, be it human or animal or inherited landholding, may be sold or redeemed; every devoted thing is most holy to the Lord. 29 No human beings who have been devoted to destruction can be ransomed; they shall be put to death.

Yahweh, without question, demanded human sacrifice! The word consecrate means to burn the offering as described in Lev 1:9. This is an evil and barbaric god that Christians re-imagine as good.

 

Fail! Yahweh commands genocide

Deut 7: 1 When the Lord your God brings you into the land that you are about to enter and occupy and he clears away many nations before you—the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and mightier than you— 2 and when the Lord your God gives them over to you and you defeat them, then you must utterly destroy them. Make no covenant with them and show them no mercy.

Deut 13:12 If you hear it said about one of the towns that the Lord your God is giving you to live in, 13 that scoundrels from among you have gone out and led the inhabitants of the town astray, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ whom you have not known, 14 then you shall inquire and make a thorough investigation. If the charge is established that such an abhorrent thing has been done among you, 15 you shall put the inhabitants of that town to the sword, utterly destroying it and everything in it, even putting its livestock to the sword.

Deut 20:16 But as for the towns of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not let anything that breathes remain alive. 17 Indeed, you shall annihilate them—the Hittites and the Amorites, the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites—just as the Lord your God has commanded.

Josh 6:20 So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpets, they raised a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so the people charged straight ahead into the city and captured it. 21 Then they devoted to destruction by the edge of the sword all in the city, both men and women, young and old, oxen, sheep, and donkeys.

Duet 2:32 So when Sihon came out against us, he and all his people for battle at Jahaz, 33 the Lord our God gave him over to us, and we struck him down, along with his offspring and all his people. 34 At that time we captured all his towns, and in each town we utterly destroyed men, women, and children. We left not a single survivor. 35 Only the livestock we kept as spoil for ourselves, as well as the plunder of the towns that we had captured.

1Sam 15:3 Now go and attack Amalek and utterly destroy all that they have; do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.

Ironic that a "god of love and mercy" would command his people to show no mercy and commit genocide on all these occasions. If Yahweh was a real person, he would be arrested, tried, convicted and executed as a war criminal.

 

Fail! Yahweh has no concern for rape victims.

Deut 22:28 If a man meets a virgin who is not engaged and seizes her and lies with her, and they are discovered, 29 the man who lay with her shall give fifty shekels of silver to the young woman’s father, and she shall become his wife. Because he violated her, he shall not be permitted to divorce her as long as he lives.

It is clear that god does not value women when he commands rape victims to be sold to their offender. This is not a god of justice.

 

Fail! Yahweh punishes David by killing his baby and having his wives raped. 

2 Sam 12:8 I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your bosom and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah, and if that had been too little, I would have added as much more. 9 Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. 10 Now, therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, for you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife. 11 Thus says the Lord: I will raise up trouble against you from within your own house, and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in broad daylight. 12 For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and in broad daylight.

2 Sam 12: 15 Then Nathan went home. And the Lord caused the baby boy who was born to David and Uriah’s wife to become very sick. 16 David prayed to God for the baby. David refused to eat or drink. He went into his house and stayed there and lay on the ground all night.17 The leaders of David’s family came and tried to pull David up from the ground, but he refused to get up. He refused to eat with these leaders. 18 On the seventh day the baby died.

Justice requires the person who committed the crime is the one who is punished. Yahweh's justice is having women, who had nothing to do with the sin, raped in public. If that's not bad enough, this god killed David's new born baby after making it suffer in sickness for a week.  This is hardly a just or merciful god.

 

Fail! Yahweh punishes his people by making them eat their children

Jer 19: 8 And I will make this city a horror, a thing to be hissed at; everyone who passes by it will be horrified and will hiss because of all its disasters. 9 And I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and all shall eat the flesh of their neighbors in the siege and in the distress with which their enemies and those who seek their life afflict them.

Lev 26:29 You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.

Deut 28:53 In the desperate straits to which the enemy siege reduces you, you will eat the fruit of your womb, the flesh of your own sons and daughters whom the Lord your God has given you.

Ezekiel 5:10 Surely, parents shall eat their children in your midst, and children shall eat their parents; I will execute judgments on you, and any of you who survive I will scatter to every wind.

Stop sinning, Christians! If you make your god angry enough, he will make you eat your kids. Pay attention to the words! Yahweh says he is causing this to happen. Disgusting! Yahweh is a god of cannibalism!

 

Fail! Yahweh accepts child sacrifice.

Jud 11:29 Then the spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh. He passed on to Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he passed on to the Ammonites. 30 And Jephthah made a vow to the Lord and said, “If you will give the Ammonites into my hand, 31 then whatever[a] comes out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return victorious from the Ammonites, shall be the Lord’s, to be offered up by me as a burnt offering.” 32 So Jephthah crossed over to the Ammonites to fight against them, and the Lord gave them into his hand. 33 He inflicted a massive defeat on them from Aroer to the neighborhood of Minnith, twenty towns, and as far as Abel-keramim. So the Ammonites were subdued before the Israelites.34 Then Jephthah came to his home at Mizpah, and there was his daughter coming out to meet him with timbrels and with dancing. She was his only child; he had no son or daughter except her. 35 When he saw her, he tore his clothes and said, “Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low; you have become the cause of great trouble to me. For I have opened my mouth to the Lord, and I cannot take back my vow.” 36 She said to him, “My father, if you have opened your mouth to the Lord, do to me according to what has gone out of your mouth, now that the Lord has given you vengeance against your enemies, the Ammonites.” 37 And she said to her father, “Let this thing be done for me: grant me two months, so that I may go and wander[c] on the mountains and bewail my virginity, my companions and I.” 38 “Go,” he said, and he sent her away for two months. So she departed, she and her companions, and bewailed her virginity on the mountains. 39 At the end of two months, she returned to her father, who did with her according to the vow he had made. She had never slept with a man. So there arose an Israelite custom that 40 for four days every year the daughters of Israel would go out to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite.

Notice the text says "the spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah" and then Jephthah made a vow to sacrifice whatever comes out of his doors to meet him. This means he was inspired by god to make the vow. Yahweh could have made anything come out of the door but he chose a child. Yahweh could have said, "Stop! Don't do this!" but he didn't. The evidence is clear that Yahweh wanted this child to be sacrificed to him. 

 

Fail! Yahweh orders child sacrifice.

Gen 22:2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”

While the story goes that Yahweh provided a last minute substitute for this child sacrifice, it does nothing for the horror of his command to do it in the first place. The cognitive dissonance of believers that twists this into an inspiring story is discouraging to say the least. If today, a man tied his son down, with intent to sacrifice the child, we would hope people would try to stop him. It shouldn't matter he was claiming that god told him to do it. 

 

Fail! Yahweh forces abortion on women accused of being unfaithful

NUM 5:20 But if you have gone astray while under your husband’s authority, if you have defiled yourself and some man other than your husband has had intercourse with you,’ 21 —let the priest make the woman take the oath of the curse and say to the woman—‘the Lord make you an execration and an oath among your people, when the Lord makes your uterus drop, your womb discharge; 22 now may this water that brings the curse enter your bowels and make your womb discharge, your uterus drop! And the woman shall say, ‘Amen. Amen.’ 23 “Then the priest shall put these curses in writing and wash them off into the water of bitterness. 24 He shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that brings the curse, and the water that brings the curse shall enter her and cause bitter pain. 25 The priest shall take the grain offering of jealousy out of the woman’s hand and shall elevate the grain offering before the Lord and bring it to the altar, 26 and the priest shall take a handful of the grain offering as its memorial portion and turn it into smoke on the altar and afterward shall make the woman drink the water. 27 When he has made her drink the water, then, if she has defiled herself and has been unfaithful to her husband, the water that brings the curse shall enter into her and cause bitter pain, and her womb shall discharge, her uterus drop, and the woman shall become an execration among her people.

Another example of how Yahweh is certainly not pro-life. If a Hebrew man suspected his wife of adultery, God gave instructions for forcing an abortion. 

 

Fail! God orders women burned alive for sex outside of marriage.

Lev 21:9 When the daughter of a priest profanes herself through prostitution, she profanes her father; she shall be burned to death.

Being burned to death is a slow and exceptionally painful way to die. Yahweh is not only unjust, but he is also exceptionally cruel.

 

Fail! God claims to hate homosexuality but sounds pretty gay himself.

LEV 21:18 Indeed, no one who has a blemish shall draw near, one who is blind or lame, or one who is mutilated or deformed,19 or one who has a broken foot or a broken hand, 20 or a hunchback, or a dwarf, or a man with a defect in his eyes or an itching disease or scabs or crushed testicles.

GEN 17:11 You shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.

Mark 14:51 A certain young man was following him, wearing nothing but a linen cloth. They caught hold of him, 52 but he left the linen cloth and ran off naked.

Yahweh often demands death for women who commit certain sins but not the men who are a party to the same offense. Maybe this is because God seems so keen on boys and men. Yahweh demands the Levite priests are nicely formed and have undamaged testicles. He is also very interested in how the penis looks and he makes it the sign for his covenant with men. Jesus surrounded himself with only male apostles. Shortly before his arrest detailed in Mark 14, Jesus is found in the garden with a partially clothed young man. Generally, an adult man hanging out in the park, with a mostly naked boy, in the late hours, would be viewed suspiciously by society. 

 

Fail! Jesus wants to watch the suffering of those who won’t worship him.

Luke 19:But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to rule over them—bring them here and slaughter them in my presence.

Rev 14:10 they will also drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured unmixed into the cup of his anger, and they will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.

The idea that Jesus is kind, just and loving is proved false by the bible. Jesus (the Lamb) wants to rule you and if you reject that oppression, he wants to watch you burn. He certainly sounds like an evil king.

 

Fail! Yahweh/Jesus and Satan kill people to settle a bet.

Job 1:6 One day the heavenly beings came to present themselves before the Lord, and the accuser also came among them. 7 The Lord said to the accuser, “Where have you come from?” The accuser answered the Lord, “From going to and fro on the earth and from walking up and down on it.” 8 The Lord said to the accuser, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man who fears God and turns away from evil.” 9 Then the accuser answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have you not put a fence around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But stretch out your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.” 12 The Lord said to the accuser, “Very well, all that he has is in your power; only do not stretch out your hand against him!” So the accuser went out from the presence of the Lord.13 One day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in the eldest brother’s house, 14 a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were feeding beside them, 15 and the Sabeans fell on them and carried them off and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; I alone have escaped to tell you.” 16 While he was still speaking, another came and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them; I alone have escaped to tell you.” 17 While he was still speaking, another came and said, “The Chaldeans formed three columns, made a raid on the camels and carried them off, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; I alone have escaped to tell you.” 18 While he was still speaking, another came and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house, 19 and suddenly a great wind came across the desert, struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people, and they are dead; I alone have escaped to tell you.”

Notice that God, not Satan, calls attention to Job. God gives authority to Satan to kill Job's family.  Satan couldn't do it without permission. God murders of Job’s servants and livestock himself. When Job asks God why all this suffering is occurring, Yahweh says Job should not question his ways. Wow! God sounds like a monster. 

 

Fail! God murders 42 boys for making fun of his prophet.

2 Kings 2:23 He went up from there to Bethel, and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, “Go away, baldhead! Go away, baldhead!” 24 When he turned around and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two she-bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. 

Elisha was walking towards Bethel when a group of boys made fun of his baldness. Elisha cursed the children, in the name of Yahweh, and two bears came out of the woods and tore the kids apart. Wow! Imagine brutally killing 42 children because they insulted you. This imagined god is incredibly fragile and evil.

 

Fail! God orders more fetuses and infants slaughtered.

2 Kings 8:10 Elisha said to him, “Go, say to him, ‘You shall certainly recover,’ but the Lord has shown me that he shall certainly die.” 11 He fixed his gaze and stared at him to the point of embarrassment. Then the man of God wept. 12 Hazael asked, “Why does my lord weep?” He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the people of Israel; you will set their fortresses on fire; you will kill their young men with the sword, dash in pieces their little ones, and rip up their pregnant women.”

Hosea 13:16Samaria shall bear her guilt because she has rebelled against her God they shall fall by the sword; their little ones shall be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.

God punishes people in the most horrific ways. Here the punishment for Israel includes pregnant women being ripped open and their babies being dashed to pieces. Remember! Yahweh/Jesus is unchanging so the Christian claiming their God is pro-life is laughable.
